Thanks for chipping in Josh. I appreciate the info. HP wise what were you running at the time you were killing all the clutches? Have you trashed anymore since going to the Rossler VB?

I was probably right around 600 HP if I was running both stages of nitrous, probably closer to 500 on fuel. A couple of months ago I bought another transmission so I could get a clean case and pump to get rid of all the stripped out bolt holes and get rid of a few lingering problems. When I tore into it, I found all the clutches were in pretty good shape, but the intermediates where showing some hot spots on the steels and a little bit of burning on the frictions. All the others looked brand new. I haven't been into it since then, but it ran an the 11.37 after I swapped the case and pump with the new stuff. I opened up the clearance some on the intermediate to see if that would help any with it. Next time I go through it, I'll update you on how it looks.

Do the 4L80E's use a stock Duramax converter or would a converter need to be built from a 4L80E and Duramax converter? I maybe interested in putting one in my project truck behind my LB7.

Also Josh would you recommend a manual valve body then or stick with a controller for it.

4l85E run a 6 bolt low stall tc behind the van dmax, 8.1 and 6.5td

It's a 4L80 specific converter. The pump and input shafts are different on an Allison. You will likely have to talk to whoever you want to build it because most performance 4L80 converters are small diameter and very loosely stalled. A 13" converter will most likely be needed to get it to stall where you want it.

I still use the computer to control it because I believe it is more consistent than trying to manually shift it all on my own. The only shift I perform manually is the 3-4 shift for the reason I mentioned in my earlier post.

How does the duramax engine ecm like 4L80 vs running an allison? Heard the ecm computer throws codes when there is no allison behind the engine.

I want to run a LLY with a 4L80 in a kit car or muscle car.

A Duramax cam with a manual trans behind it factory so you can just run a manual OS with a stand alone harness for the 4l80 with no issue.

Thanks for the response. One more question for ya. Can GM reflash my stock automatic 05 LLY ECM to a manual? My stock ecm is out an auto truck. I've done a bunch of cummins stuff like that over the years, not sure if GM stuff is capable of doing that

I've never personally had them flash a manual OS into an auto ECM but I'm sure they have the capability. You can flash it in with EFIlive though if they are unwilling.
