Major fuel leak underload?

Since I recently did injectors, I'm thinking this issue is coming from something I did wrong just need some advice as to what. Maybe hard lines? Even though I reseated the few that showed signs of leaking. Maybe the filter head? Idk. The only reason I say hard lines is that cyl 5 is wet at the injector/hard line connecting area but the entire pass side is soaked.

It shows no signs of anything wrong while idling, so it has to be under load. No codes.

Pulled over and took some pics.

Clean engine wel . Let dry. Unplug rail pressure sensor. Look for leaks.
Yea will do. Just got it on a tow truck and looking underneath, everything is soaked back to my bumper. Still started after waiting forever, so it's holding prime.

I just fixed a leak on mine, it was leaking at the high pressure discharge on the cp3, threw me for a loop tho bc most of the fule was leaking down the back of the engine witch made it a hard to chase.

careful when looking for that leak... The cp3 can make 23K plus psi at idle with the regulator unplugged. That much pressure will cut off what ever appendage you stick in front of it;)

That is a major leak.should be fairly easy to find if you yave a bud put it under load when your looking or as NE max said full the fpr plug and let the fuel fly....carefully!

Lol return line on an lb7 is under the valve cover don't think that's it bud, it almost had to be from the rail to the injectors with that amount of fuel!

Thanks for all the info guys. I didn't have time to mess with it at all this weekend, which drove me nuts. I'll have some time tonight though.

The Cyl 5 spot was one of the previous leak areas that I thought was corrected, didn't show signs of leaking until this whole ordeal happened on Friday night.

RE: Old Testament Hero: Joseph

Hello guys,
I'm having same issue. Did this leak ever get resolved? I just had all 8 injectors replaced, cp3 pump, lines, etc. I'm active duty and the truck sat for 6 months while I was deployed. Fast forward, I just attempted to tow my 5th wheel, and my wife sees smoke coming from behind me and my fuel gauge is dropping rapidly. I pull over and the truck is dumping fuel. I have an 01 lb7, 170kmiles. Super frustrated, just dropped 8k into fuel system...

The technique for finding the leak is much the same now as then. Idle the truck, look for a visible leak. If not, use a scan tool to run rail pressure up slowly (I usually go 60 MPa, 100 MPa, 160 MPa until I see the leak).

If you don't have access to a scan tool, you can unplug the FPRV connector, which causes it to max rail pressure (over 160 MPa). I don't like doing it that way because it puts more stress on everything than you'd normally see in operation, but it does work.

Depending on what is leaking, changes how to fix it. High pressure lines sometimes can be cleaned and re-seated, and sometimes just need replaced. Low pressure lines are often easier (and much easier to get to on the whole).
