Good morning all, I m in need of tuning help! I have an 05 2500hd lly that continues to show a MAF code P0101. The truck currently has an afe dryflow intake and stock mouth peice, egr blocker plate and no finger stick. The CEL light does not come on. What ive seen while watching the maf on thenscanner is once engine is started im idling at 50-60 g/s duri g acceleration the reading goes up but under hard acceleration it reads negative #s. I purchased the truck second hand and took it to the local dealer to have flashed back to as built. Currently the ecms show 15228758 and 15904640.

I'm thinking the dealer installed the wrong tuning?

I used the post to check the TIS to find I have the software for the intake pop? And the other software doesnt show under my VIN 15228758. Im really confused at this point...

Anybody have any ideas?

The truck seems sluggish after the dealer flashed it to as built.

Put a stock air filter back in it, or have it tuned to get rid of the P0101. It is a very common code to get with an aftermarket intake installed.

I just ran my CID in the TSI site and found that my CVN #s are not even close to what shows. I've attached snapshots from my scanner. In fact CVN 1 is all zeros?

I bought the truck with the AFE dry flow so I don't have a stock setup to try. Also when I bought the truck it had an efi live tune. I did not know this or I would have left it alone.

Any idea why I show negative MAF reading under hard acceleration? Bad maf sensor?

For starters I would get aread with a good scanner that can read the CVN history correctly. Once you get that info, we can tell if you have the correct flash or not. It looks like your scanner is not reading the CVN correctly is my bet as there is ALOT more to the CVN than what yours is showing. I see it is showing the basic operating system number, but thats about it. Also since you have an AFE intake, we MUST know if you have one for an LLY or LBZ. It is pretty common to swap in an LBZ intake setup to match an LBZ mouthpiece, and then flash in the correct changes to work with it. If they saw the round AFE filter and flashed in the calibration for a round filter, but you have an LLY AFE intake, it will be a slug and throw all kinds of MAF readings(andvice versa) Without knowing what you have, whats been done, and what you're working with, theres nothing we can do but to specualte what it MIGHT be.

Thanks, I'll see about getting a better scan to see the entire Cvn history. I know the AFE is for an LLY as I ran the part number on the intake tube. The mouth piece is stock lly. There's an egr blocker plate and no finger stick FE9 emissions and mbrp exhaust no cat no muffler. Other than those few things the truck is stock. Oh and a dmaxstore cat filter adaptor

Just get an efi tune and be done with it.

The aFe dry filter flows about as much air as a K&N, which is a P0101 nightmare.
On aFe OEM drop-in the part number is the same from 2006-2010.
Aftermarket intakes or a OEM aftermarket drop-in can and will cause P0101 codes, that's where EFI tuning helps to stop that from happening.

If I continue to run this way will it cause internal damage?
The engine does not smoke at all ever. No CEL light ever.
Is there a recommended filter setup over another with mouth piece?

Sorry for the questions I'm new to the dmax, I've switched over from powerstroke and am honestly regretting it right now unless I can get this straightened out...

Get rid of the LLY mouthpiece and go with an LBZ(would require a new filter setup), or get an S&B mouthpiece and put in it. My bet is the dealer saw a round filter, and flashed it with a round filter calibration. This would definately cause a P0101 code. Get a EFILIVE tune put in it, and be done with it. Without a finger stick, it is eventually going to code on you for low EGR flow. The P0101 code normally isn't a problem, but the EGR code could be(some code, some don't, it's a toss up).

I've replaced the MAF just to rule it out as it dropped 10g/s at idle after cleaning. still reads high around 60 at idle.

Now im thinking when i had the dealer flash as built they flashed with LBZ MAF table. The reason i think this is i have stock mouth piece and LLY CAI which has the smaller ID on the tube which will increase the air velocity accross the MAF compared to the LBZ CAI. Most of my research has shown that when you have the CAI and mouth piece you'll actually have low MAF readings. I removed the resonator plug and started the engine to lower the airflow across the MAF, it read 40 g/s at idle.

so with all that said maybe i should replace the CAI to LBZ before i do anything else??

any thoughts or idea?
