Made a forum

hey guys, work was slow this morning and was getting particularly a aggravated at the lameness of my local car forums...so i decided i would take a crack at making my own.


check it out and give me suggestions! it would be greatly appreciated

get a domain name, before that current sticks in peoples heads. I'd do something with a .com or a .net though for a forum.

also do some SEO so your posts come up on google and cross link when ya can. :thumb:

thanks, i'm gonna wait a bit before i jump into getting my own domain.. would rather it not be a flop and freeforums offers to let you buy a domain from them so all that would change is it wouldn't say freeforums anymore in the URL

you can pick up a domain from any registrar for less than 5 bucks...point to your forum. What does free forums charge, and can you take your domain with you?

I think what Mike meant was; what does freeforums charge for a domain name. And what do they charge if you want to move the domain name someplace else?

im afraid that i do not know, i know they charge 15 a year for one it doesn't say anything about moving it...however you can "park" one there for 10 a year

Yea my point was, domains are cheap. If you like racetech you better get on it now. other wise someone might buy it up, and then you have to pay more to get a hold of it later when it takes off....

Also if your forum takes off and you want to move it to another place, you might need to transfer your domain. If you buy from free forums, it might cost more for the domain, and not be movable (which in most cases it can be transferred but for a fee).


EDIT: racetech.net, racetech.org, racetech.com is already all taken, and no I didnt go buy them lol

mike, thanks for the info... im a web design retard so for now ill just let it roll i suppose and pay the price down the road if it actually gets

need to get some smart people over there though for it to work
