Looking for a good machine shop and everytime I call one of the local shops they have no idea what I'm talking about. Does anybody know of a good shop around Pennsylvania that is good with a d-max?

I can understand the delipping but any good machine shop that's done any high performance engines should be able to and be familiar with keying cranks and cams. It's not just duramax's thats done to.

the crank is tapered in a section so you cant put the key way there. you have to "split it" so to speak.

Yeah. Atleast 2 keys in the crank one is for the balancer and the other is for the oil pump drive gear. On mine I also pulled the gear that drives the cam gear thats pressed on and installed a third key.

Still don't know why you can't run a single key through it though? It would just have more key surface area on the balancer side. But I suppose spliting the keys would be fine, just alittle more coin.

I had a local shop with a cnc machine cut mine. All 3 for $100. I bought pre-cut keys that are 5mm wide like the factory pins
