Jeff does awesome work and knows his stuff. I had two done by him, one fully built and the other one stock rebuild. He currently has my built motor freshen it up and changing stuff. around $2500 for him to do all the machine work and build oil pan to heads.

what all machine work was included in that 2500? that seems pretty reasonable especially to assemble a long block.

I don't have my bill in front of me but going off memory: wash and mag flux block, bore block .040" over, hone block, half fill block, line bore main bearings, install cam bearings, file and fit piston rings, assemble motor. I did supply all the parts. This was for the built motor. I prolly missed a few thing since this was done 6 years ago.

I'm looking to have the same things done besides oversizing and filling the block, did he supply rod/main bearings or did you take them to him?

So i stopped by the machine shop today to get a few prices just to have a general idea. He quoted 1800-2000 to do the following...

Block: Cleaned, Honed (STD bore), Decked, Cam Bearings,
Crank: Magd, Keyed,
Heads: Decked, Valve job, Cut for O rings,

Fully balanced without assembly, I plan on letting him assemble it but i didn't get a price for assembly.

Whats everyones thoughts?

Dont forget the align hone for the mains and keying the cam! But I wouldnt let him touch it without a torque plate.
