Machine Shop Prices

So i stopped by the machine shop today to get a few prices just to have a general idea. He quoted 1800-2000 to do the following...

Block: Cleaned, Honed (STD bore), Decked, Cam Bearings,
Crank: Magd, Keyed,
Heads: Decked, Valve job, Cut for O rings,

Fully balanced without assembly, I plan on letting him assemble it but i didn't get a price for assembly.

Whats everyones thoughts?

That sounds about right i paid a little less then that but it seems to be about the average price. I assume external ballanced.

Yes externally balanced.

Do i really need to O ring the heads? who else is running o rings? i wasn't planning on it but i figured id have it quoted in. thoughts?

Unless you have some crazy power goals, I wouldn't bother with O-rings.

I've heard good things about him, not sure i can afford him though.

Make sure he has a torque plate.

if i remember correctly he doesn't have a duramax torque plate.

Compared to some places, people refer to that as expensive. I feel it's worth it
