you didnt beat the car, you beat the driver.... there just isnt much point in bragging about beating a fast car when the driver didnt know you were racing/missed a gear/ was asleep.

if you have a 1000hp duramax and outran an m5 that would be believeable and cool since the truck actually probably outran the car.
I guess next time I go to the track and see someone I want to line up with I'll just ask to see one of there old time slips? That will actually save wear and tare on my truck too.

There's no way u would seriously need 1000hp duramax to beat a m5. That's the biggest joke I've heard. Even if m5s ran 11s, its wouldn't take 1000hp. 850 would handle it. But everyone says mid to low 12s so 650-7 would be over kill. There's no way they are that much faster. I wanna ride in one bad. Take a zr1, that will handle it fine. Unless I'm missing something.

how fast could you guys go in the 1/4 with a 2wd duramax truck on street tires? i know the ones leaving in 4wd can knock down ~1.7 60's, but what if they had a 2.0-2.1?

with street tires....i cant catch traction if i just hammer it without spooling...if i spool, instant white smoke pouring off the tires. id be lucky to get a 13.5 with street tires hahaha

if a m5 is good for 12.5-12.9 in the 1/4 with a 2.0 60 ft....... how much hp would you need in your truck to run a 12.5 with a 2.0 60?

-reason i mention 2.0 60 is because that is what the m5 would have since its on street tires. putting both vehicles at the same 60' takes the traction advantage off of the truck. the op stated they were going from a roll, so the truck shouldnt have had any traction advantage.

I'd say maybe 600ish rwhp to take that in the quarter. Now thats if your talking about the e60 m5. Those are the v-10 monsters with like 500 hp. The older e39 m5 it would be a different story. They are putting out about 400hp from a v-8. Wouldn't be too tough to beat one of them. But damn do I want one. Blue e39 m5 would be a sick car to own.

I think the M5 (with the V-10) isn't as fast as it's being talked about. I was at the track a few years ago with my Benz C55 and lined up that night once with an M5 and he ran a 11.7 with a 100 shot and few other mods. I ran 12.10. The best run he had was a 11.5. It's on dragtimes for anyone curious. That being said stock you looking at about 12.4 or so. Considering that on street race coming out first with your truck I'm sure he will have a bit of a hard time catching up (not saying it won't beat it) but will defenitly scare the crap out of him. Shit i just saw one on dragtimes stock ran a 13.4. Probably the one that he ran was the older model anyway. The older ones are at about 13.5 stock. Now an E55 is a different story lol.

We have a 2WD LMM that cuts 1.7s on slicks but can only manage about a 2.0 on street tires. He runs 12.7s @ 105-107. Built trans, AD 150, exhaust, tuning.

That makes sense. I raced a 90's IROC convertible stop light to stop light for 3 lights in a row in 2wd and he beat me every time. It sure was fun trying to pedal my truck and catch him, but I couldn't do it. I would have destroyed him on a boost launch, but I didn't do it. Just goes to show that the driver/setup is very important on the street. And if they don't know they are racing, that helps too!

Totally unrelated but I was with a friend in his E60 M5 when he got his ass handed to him by a 2010 CTS-V. It was 2 lane lane entrance ramp and both launched and the CTS-V pulled 6 1/2-7 car lengths up to 160.

His car had mid, and rear Dinan exhaust and stage 1? tuning.

He was pissed. He also ended up cutting the exhaust off and runs it straight piped now. That high revving V10 sounds insane.
