What can I do to lower my EGT's? I changed my fuel filter and took a buddy for a ride and was showing him what it can do and I seen my EGT spike at 15xx. I've Never seen it that high before.

So far I have a Pro Flow 4" down pipe back no cat and no muffler, S&B CAI, AFE Bladerunner elbow, AFE inter cooler cold side pipe. I'm going to be installing a Diamond Eye 3" down pipe and a AFE hot side inter cooler pipe soon as well.

What could I do to also help my LLY lower the EGT's? I've heard they a bigger inter cooler would help as well, any truth?

Get that downpipe on, that will help a little. You could do water injection, but that's another band aid fix.

As was mentioned, another turbo, either compounded or a bigger single will help. Stock VVT's get pretty warm pretty fast under heavier fueling. Does your tune smoke at WOT? cutting back fueling until a haze will help as well.

Also timing plays a role in EGT's. More timing tends to cool the EGT's off some, but it keeps the heat in the cylinder longer which runs your engine temps up.

More fine tuning. With my ppe canned tuna tunes I would get up to 1700+ and with efi I have only seen 1400+. And efi tuna tunes feel better

More air, or less fuel, finer tuning. What are the goals?

Nobody said a new CAC, but that will help just a little, but I would go more air before I went CAC.

You could also check for boost leaks.....

Is your convertor locking? If not, that doesn't help either. Try tow/haul from a 40 roll and roll into full throttle kinda easy and see what they get to. If you are just flooring it, it is probably staying unlocked for a little while.

I've always heard from friends that have diesels that I should not get to 1600 EGT's. I guess in just scared of them temps.

I don't have EFI, yet, I'm running Edge CTS at the moment. When I get on it is going to TC lockup.

I'm not saying its smart! :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

But what do you want from the truck. :dontknow:

When I want to go fast, I quit looking at the EGT's, or at least I did before I added the trips. Now that kind of fueling will bend rods.

A better question is to ask me what I do when I tow, in that case I twist the knob down and don't like to see over about 1150* sustained...well maybe up to 1250* for a short time.....

High EGT's at whatever level is too much fuel for your nerves....IMO, back off the fuel and live with the power level. Want power? quit looking....

I could bury my pyro when I had my stock turbo, but it was only hot for a few seconds when running at the track. 3-4 seconds at the most. I'm sure 1500+ isn't good for your truck but in my openion by the time you get it hot enough to hurt something its time to let off unless towing. Thats what I like to tell myself anyway:D

My only goal is to get into the 12's with the truck. I need to beat a guy at work who has a Porsche. That is my ultimate goal.

Buy some efi tunes from a good tunner I went from 1500-1600 with my edge cranked then got efi and it was hard to touch 1400.
