Low range dead pedal

I am posting this here, because someone has had to run into this while pulling. Sometimes when in 4lo, I get a dead pedal. I can push the pedal all the way to the floor and the engine doesn't respond. Sometimes it happens when towing and sometimes just when crawling in 4 lo. Any thoughts?

This only happens in 4 lo. I have read somewhere else that cutting the grey wire in the transfercase harness would cure this. The apparent cause is the engine ecu seeing too high a torque number in 4 lo. Cutting the wire keeps the ecu from knowing when the transfercase is in 4 lo

It could just be a tuning issue , but there is no way to tell unless some logs or detailed info is given , there are several limiter tables that can cause the same issue , and just be showing its ugly head when in 4low .

have no clue if thats true , but I do know it shouldn't be required to make the truck run right , I am not aware of any one else having to cut any wires to get there trucks to fuel right in 4low

Had truck in 4lo today launching my boat and problem seems to be limited to 1st gear. Just about a dead pedal, once tranny shifts to 2nd throttle is more responsive but still low on power. I have heard of some others that had to unplug the harness to the transfer case to keep this from happening. If I hook up my scan tool, what should I look for?

Have never heard of anyone unhooking a harness or cutting wires either. X2 on what trent said Seems like it could be a tuning issue. Or a harness with wires corroded or rubbing. Good luck with the fix. Interested to what it is when u fix the issue.

Pulled the plugs on the transfercase today and didn't see the same wires that others have talked about. Looks like I will have to do a test with the scan tool and log some data.

Hooked up the scan tool today and logged some transmission settings and found a few quirks. On occassion I would see input torque requested as being 48xxx saw that several times, then it would go to normal numbers of 60-250
The other weird number I saw was while running in 5th gear, it showed next upshift at 82xx rpm. This only seemed to be a 5th gear thing.

I tested truck again today in low range and couldn't duplicate problem. Doesn't seem super responsive in 1st gear, but hits 2nd and takes off like a rocket. Locked tranny into first gear and it seemed ok. Hard to tell because it revs out so quick. No dead pedal today.

Spent a fair amount of time in 4 lo today elk hunting. Sometimes everything worked perfect, then the dead pedal would come up. If I totally released the pedal and pushed down again, it would work. Seems to be prompted by driving in 1st gear lo range with minimal throttle input.

Dose it work ok when tuned back to stock? i actually had a truck just do this after a tune flash, reflashed again and all is well, no reason as to why...kinda would like to know myself!

I haven't tried returning to stock. As a matter of fact, I can't remember ever driving this truck stock for the last 80k. Truck has always had this problem since I have owned it, it just doesn't spend enough time in 4 lo to give me a good idea. After logging some trans info last week though, I am very curious as to what is making the torque numbers jump off the scale and then go back to normal. I am thinking this might have something to do with the problem.

I just had my tcm reflashed at the dealer to the updated version so that I can install a fleece tap shifter and bingo, I think the low range dead pedal is gone. Fingers crossed!
