Low oil pressure??

Got a low oil pressure message today in my Lly across the message center. Has anyone seems problems with oil pressure sensor failing and if so is this the sensor on the driver side of the block??

Sensor is driver side between motor mount and oil filter housing. Either put a manual gauge on it to check it or just replace it. Their about 70$. Mine had the low oil pressure message and I tore it down this week and found out it spun the main bearings.

Have not seen the message anymore just that once after cold start. So what u r saying is its rare that sensors go??

Well let's do a hypothical situation. Let's say bearing did spin. This is my plane daily driver grocery getter. Engine only has 95000 on it. What's the chance bearings can just be replaced without getting into the crank. And if so has anyone tried this without pulling the engine. .?

I would replace the sensor (or check with a manual gauge) long before tearing into the motor.

I have never heard of main bearings (or any bottom end work) being done with the motor in the truck. You'll almost certainly have to pull it if it is main bearings :(

Yeah I figured I was just wondering worst case and just trying to half ass the truck until I really wanted to rebuild completely. Lol.

I would think the difference in time saved wouldn't really make it worth it. Not sure if it could be done at all, but I would rather take the time to get more stuff out of the way so I know everything was on just right

Yes its possible and James beat me to it but the trans has to come out, the front diff has to come out and the drag link has to come out.An i know this because after powdercoat and the twins the powdercoater had powdercoated the seal face which i found out the hard way that you dont do that because it can lift and your oil pan will leak like someone drilled a hole in the pan. lol......Dont do it in the truck you will thank us later.

X2 try the sensor i tried 3 sensors with my truck and hooked up a manuel gauge,Yes you can roll out the old berings and roll in the new 1s.I have never done this but saw a guy do it once .

My truck said check/low oil pressure one time but then the needle went to normal. Was like 5 seconds it read zero and never done it again. My uncles 03 6.0 said it had 0 oil pressure everyother time he started it but if you shut it down then restarted it, it would be fine.

IMOP, do it right and pick up oil pressure test gauge, plug it in and start the truck to see what you actually have. everything beyond that is speculation till you do this

If u are in ? About bearing failure cut open your oil filter and look for metal. I drove mine for a day thinking it was a sensor and decided to do an oil change and cut the filter open to be on the safe side and saw metal. I got it tore down this week and mains were shot. The pin on the crank that holds the oil pump drive gear in place was sheared so it was slipping and starving the motor for oil.
