Low Coolant Light

I always thought that the level sensor was just a reed switch and the small float had a magnetic to trigger it it the level was too low. Is this correct?

I’m an idiot. Chasing down this problem after egr delete myself and finally found this old post. Also to add, my compressor wasn’t cycling and causing it to freeze up. All fixed now. Love this site.
