How far are you from Hagerstown MD? My truck has been loud and has a tick under load ever since I did my head studs and s366. Id love to hear yours and see if its the same sort of sound, if it wasn't so much work I would have re adjusted the valves already.

you sure are a sad old man dude. trying to start shit with a 22 year old online over what?... why dont you come to an event next season, that is if you have a truck that can actually run the number, and say shit to my face :thumb:
Your wish shall be granted. I hope one of your two trucks is running in time for the next event.
nah, im not an "internet tough guy" like old man Bob is. Ill just wait to see if he is ever at an event and speak my mind there.
If your not an Internet tough guy, you might want to keep the keyboard call outs on the downlow. My PM box is open, so take it there!
Threat? Didn't know speaking my mind was a threat but alright. Good day bob
You blew up for no reason, and tell me to come say "shit to your face". That's a threat. You have no reason to be cursing and insinuating that I'm hiding behind a keyboard because I'd be scared to talk to you in person. If I ever need to find you to talk in person, I'm perfectly capable and willing to do that.

I'm done dealing with your immature attitude on an open forum. I'm sorry if my question about your truck caused you to become upset. May you have a blessed evening also.

Pm coming so you can stop trying to stir up things in open forum bob. Still to this day not sure what your issue with me is but that's ok can't please everyone. I come to this forum to learn and help when I can. This place doesn't need your condescending posts.

I'm done derailing the op's thread. And I apologize op. feel free to clean it up if you would like :)

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you. Sorry you feel I'm trying to stir things up by asking a question about how you blew up your built engine. It was not my intention to cause you any bother. I'm sure a few PM's will clear the air.

It's all good, look forward to it as well. It didn't blow up, just broke a rocker assembly. Had a new one on in a few hours and is running like a top now :)

might want to check for fuel knock quickly, loud ticking is a sign of a possibly valve lash issue, especially if it changes in tone. loose or wide lash setting on the valves is a sure fire recipe for a dropped valve head, and things go BANG very quickly after that happens.

On the plus side after valve drops, it's usually really easy to get one or two of the rod caps off....

Why all the hostility and threats? I sure hope the mods here clean this up. We really don't need this kind of bad attitude over here, Dustin. I asked a question, why can't you just answer it and move on?

We aren't babysitters, we are hotrodders. I can say that you're drawing a lot of heat from a number of folk for some reason.

Whatever you're doing to piss people off is not working to your benefit.

It's your choice how you get treated here. It's a Golden Rule thing.

Reading this thread from a neutral prospective, it makes you look like an ass.

How do I check for fuel knock? It honestly sounds just like a exhaust leak but there are no leaks at all.

You look like an ass for not using the pm function. You're a day late and a dollar short, pal. We resolved it all through PM's already. Nobody's pissed, but thanks for your input, Patrick.

I didn't think I had an exhaust leak either but once I started pulling it apart sure enough there was an uppipe gasket with a hole burned in it. It was just in a wierd spot and would only make noise under medium boost levels. If you think it's an exhaust leak, start there first...

you could check for fuel knock by the methods mentioned, start cutting out one cylinder at a time. If it's a fuel knock when you cut that cylinder out you will hear the noise go away or change drastically, or if you have a way to play with rail pressure, that would also help.

So did mine, and it was an exhaust leak...

I have been hearing for a long time what I think is an up pipe leakin, but no soot, you can hear it best around 1200 rpms, I'm gonna order an EGR delete this week, I'm tired of havin the beat to shit egr in my way, Ill pull the up pipes off too, Kinda pisses me off, I didnt re-use one seal or gasket when I put this thing back together and torques everything to spec but the injectors, I torqued them right the first time and one came loose so I put the smoke to em and still had another come loose. But I have had some pretty hard runs in the last 20k miles.
