Ok ok ok I know this will soundy whiney but just hear me out. I have an LB7 with around 150k on it. My brother has an LB7 with around 100k on it. When mine is parked next to his ideling it is OMG louder than his. Now I dont expect to have a Prius quiet engine but deng. Is it something that is getting worn out that makes the engine lounder? Is it the intake? I dont want anyone to say its my exhaust cause I am speaking of just engine noise.

So basically what I am getting at, is does the engine get louder with age, is there something wearing out to cause it, or am I just getting to be a pansy the older I get?

In terms of engine noise (not intake/exhaust) they should be relatively the same for noise levels, and I would actually think an LBZ would be a tad quieter. Does it sound erratic, like maybe an injector knocking? Or just plain louder?

Mine LB7 is louder than most, but I also have bigger injectors. Don't fix it till it's broke... or fix it till it is..? lol

I am running customs EFI by Dustin@MyDieselAddiction. And if I had to compare it to something I would compare it to the old diesels of the 90s. I didnt even think about the custom tuning making it louder. Hmmmm. Looks like I will just have to get a big ole straw and SITFU.

Try adding an additive that adds lubricity to the fuel or ashless 2 stroke oil on your next fill up and you should see some difference in the noise

My LB7 is louder than any other Ive ever heard. Always has been. But exhaust and tuning make a huge difference in sound.
That 04 I bought (completely stock) is very quiet compared to BBT.
