loud clunk coming from front end

to dat i noticed when i put the truck in 4hi and take off from a stop sign on my performance tune it sounds like the front axles are clunking but i can take off and drive normal and no clunk what so ever?..anyone else had this problem?

Could be idler/pitman arm. That's probably where I'd start looking.

dont think it is either because when i put it in 4hi and hold the brake and start building boost it will make the noise even when im not moving

what dose it sound like? binding,clunking or gear

sounds like it could be something binding and rotating almost like the 4hi is not locked in all the way but im almost positive it is cuz ive tried it a few diff time to make sure that it was locked in

My aluminum skid plate in the front will creak sometimes. It can be pretty loud. Maybe this is what you are hearing?

Motor mounts?

Could be something in the transfer case. Check the tail housing on the trans to see if it is cracked also.

Also my favorite is to check the front hubs any time there is noise in the front. The noise create by hubs is never the same and shows up different depending on the truck.

sounds like you could have a bad cv joint or wheel bearing. just food for thought and both things that are easy to check.

well i race the other day and put it in 4wd and it was making this noise the noise is the same and when you turn to sharp in 4wd almosst like a binding...still cant figure it out

after a little investigation the popping noise seems to be coming from the transfer case or in that general area...any ideams im going to be taking the transfer case apart and installing the pump run upgrade maybe ill find something then
