Well my truck and I are getting strapped up for the first time on the 18th of August. Any tips or tricks I should know like should I hunt down a set of small tires or will leaving my 315s on not hurt me much? I plan on running in 4th. Should I take my headlight out, does that do anything?
Truck mods are: AD lift pump, 4" dp back single exhaust, fprv shimmed, and efi. Air box is stock but I plan to mod it before.

It's a small event in Ocala Florida if anyone else down this way wants to come out. I expect it to be mainly hot rods and rice rockets but they did say diesels are allowed. So I figured what the hell. 3 pulls for $50. Top numbers for the day wins $100. Sorry for the crappy screen shot.

No use in removing a headlight. Bigger tires are better for inflated numbers. Once your starting your pull be sure you are in tow haul and get up to 40-45mph, the bottom of 4th. The idea is to give your truck as much throttle as possible without letting it downshift. Once you get past the downshifting area put her to the floor. Carry it to 3500 rpms or so

Ok cool. I tried to attach the flyer but it won't let me add the pic for some reason. If anyone is interested in the address and all let me know

I believe this is where I messed up. There was a small car show locally, guy with a pull behind dyno was there. I have never dyno'd nor read up on doing so before this. So I just had him put it in drive, turned my co pilot on race and had him run it up to 60ish so it wouldn't downshift. Had him pull to 4k. Only made 477, I know the truck makes a good deal more than that because of how it runs on the street. Looks like I should've made my pull in 4th?

It's been my understanding you're supposed to run in your 1:1 gear unless you make enough power to slip the tires in 4th. If so then the dyno is supposed to be programmed to correct for the od ratio of 5th. I know my tranny will limp if I try 5 though, plus I'm sure I don't make the power to slip in 4th

What dyno is it? Or do you happen to know if it's a load cell or an inertia dyno?
That will determine how you make a pull

Also hold the tow haul button until 5th locks out so it doesn't upshift

I have no idea what type it is, I didn't ask. I could find it though if I need to? And I always use the od lockout button, plus I set the tranny tune to not let the tranny shift into od at anything over 50% throttle input. Once it hits 4th lock it will not shift till I let up. Seemed like a good idea since my tune is entirely to much for the stock tranny :D : rolleyes:

Yeah I figured. I knew it had to make more than 477, since it will murder these 33x13.5 mtzs from a stop lol
