"911, what's your emergency?"

"MY TOYOTA WON'T SLOW DOWN!!!"

"Where are you sir?"

"I'm on the 5 fwy, just north of Grapevine. I'm heading for Portland. I've been driving the car for 2 hours trying to keep up with traffic, and then I hit the downhill, and realized the pedal was stuck WOT!! It seemed to have a bit more pep when I left home in San Diego, it actually chirped the tires when I went from reverse to drive, so it has probably been stuck all morning!"

"OK sir, I understand now. You are completely safe. We cordoned off the 5 Fwy yesterday, so all the cars on the road with you are Toyotas with the throttles stuck open."

"Wow! You're right, all the cars around me are Toyotas! What do I do?"

"We cleared the road all the way to Seattle, but you should run out of fuel before then. If you give me your license number, I will put in our database so you won't get written a speeding ticket if somehow you are caught exceeding the speed limit..."

If he went through a speed trap it would have turned into a high speed pursuit. OK I may be stupid but does a Prius not have neutral on their auto. Would seem pretty easy to stop that way. Might pop the motor but who cares.

From what I've heard is the electronics will not let it shift into neutral when on the throttle so therefore it won't help it at all.

There's neutral and a key.... one or other should take care of the problem.... some people can't figure that out I guess

you can run the car without the key, up to 1/4 mile, you also cannot shift the car into neutral while under a load as it is a IVT transmission. believe me, ive tried :rofl:

And Mike, I think I also have that 94mph record setting mph broken. hit 101 on the way home from your house.:rofl:

If you press and hold the "power" button for a few seconds it will shut off, even under load.

At least the ones Ive driven did?

Every toyota that has a "normal" transmission will also let you shift into neutral under WOT...as will every other car in the world with a normal auto trans. People ASSume it when they see these toyota sticking pedal issues. I feel like I go need to make a video of it in my moms car (lexus LS430) to prove that there is no neutral lockout or 'key shut off inhibitor' under WOT... (is uses a smart key like the prius)

people are just stupid. Prius's dont have much power, I find it very hard to believe the brakes wouldnt be able to overpower the engine....

Yeah, you might be able to overpower the brakes in first gear (though I doubt it), but not in top gear.

Your gonna notice its speeding up before you hit 94. I would think you could stop though, just gotta lock them up hard and not ease on them and get them hot as hell
