I had a customer drop off a 2013 LML tuned with no "cooler and valve" on top of the engine, everything else is stock. Out of the blue the truck stalled and set a P0335 crankshaft position sensor circuit. He swapped out crank sensor with a new ac delco sensor. Drove the truck for a few days and truck stalled again with P0335 and a P0336. It wouldn't immediately restart, cleared the codes and eventually got it going. On his way here it did the same and set both codes and he couldn't get it running so it got towed in. When I got to it it fired up and hasn't set a code yet. I think I covered most of the basics. I looked over all wire and harness and cant see any issues. I wiggled wire harness all over while engine was running and it didn't make a difference. I unplugged the ecm connectors and crank senor, load checked the 3 wires and they were good. Terminal tension is good. I assume the P0335 is from a wiring issue but I checked the mechanical part just to try not to overlook anything. I pulled the sensor and there are no rub marks on it, tone ring is tight, all teeth look good. Pulled belt and checked crank for play and rotated it and watched convertor and don't think crank is broke. My next step is to drive it and see if I can get it to die and take a look them but don't want to work along side of the road or have it towed back. Does anyone have any other ideas?
On a side note with the engine running with my tech 2 monitoring active crank and cam signals the crank will count to 255 and stop, the cam with only count a few like up to 5 or so and then restart and count up again. I don't have another truck here to see what it is supposed to do. Not sure what a normal reading looks like.
