Looking for a car hauler

I'm looking to pick up a 20+ft car hauler in the next few weeks. I live about an hour west of Chicago. I've always been told Indiana has the best deals. I would prefer used but new may be the only option. I'm always interested in traveling for a good deal.

Any ideas?

you will regret buying a 20, i recommend a 24, 26 or 28. Trailer country in ohio has some of the best car trailers i've seen yet. I have a friend that has bought 3 of these and swears by them. He hauls around priceless corvettes around the country and needed a trailer to withstand NYC streets(picture the surface of the moon_. Don't skimp out on axles, tires and the sheetmetal.

^^^ X2 I regret 20' everytime I load up. Its a pain in the ass to go get the big gooseneck for just hauling the brush hog tractors the car hauler has no room for other implements. I would go no shorter than 26', and I would go gooseneck for good tight quarter maneuvering

I would a gooseneck, but I don't have a pocket book deep enough for that right now. The truck already has a ball though so maybe someday..even on the 20 footers, it does t justify the 3500lbs axles. You put one car in there and are left with about 500lbs of usable capacity, that's nothing.

Don't forget the weight of the trailer, 3500 lbs axles are worthless IMO. If the trailer weights 3K-4K, that only leaves you with 3K-4K worth of total capacity.

3500 pound axles are a waste. I have an 18ft car hauler and it's overloaded with basically everything I use it for. I have gotten the stink eye from dot a few times for having a tractor or big truck on it. I'll be getting a gooseneck eventually.

I agree that the 3500lbs are a waste. Maybe in a much shorter trailer they'd be fine, but not in a 24ft trailer that can move two cars.

I'm actually driving down to Missouri Monday to potentially grab one. It's a 2014 24ft enclosed, bought new in May. His partner backed out on him and now he's stuck with a trailer. Scored it for $4300. I'm pretty stoked about this one.

There is a ton of these all the time for sale, my LML had a goosneck in it, the previous owner put it in his new truck, I know they tow better, but then not everyone can use it.

Tony, be careful getting a 28' with 5200 lbs axles. The load capacity will only be 4500-5000 lbs maxed out. That's a lot of trailer with not much carrying ability.

I found a couple 28s for a good deal, that's just way to much trailer for me. I agree to 5200lb axles start becoming small on that trailer. I almost bought a 28ft toy hauler this week and it had 6000lb axles.
