I'm confused-you guys are saying those are RDL manifolds then?

O I C.

They look good, any sort of gains to be had with them that can be proven? Just to justify my buying a set.:D

They had it sitting out at SEMA. They are offering twin kits now, but the guy said none that re use the stocker. That twin setup was 10k i think he said. 48 top and 42 bottom i think. Cant remember for sure. They had the twin turbo chevelle in their booth also. PPE does put out some nice products.

So they're a "consignment" seller? Just seemed suspicious that they always seemed to have their own "version" of a part shortly after that part was designed and sold by the original person. Thanks for explaining it to me. I always wondered.

And it's puzzling why some tuners use PPE Hot +2 tables in "their" tunes as well without royalities.

PPE makes a lot of parts for other shops. I'm not going to give examples, as that is PPE's business.

PPE also buys parts from other shops as well and sells them relabeled.

I'd estimate 90% of medium to large performance shops in all areas follow this model. When you come up with something, you sell it to who will buy it. And when you get demand for an item, you buy them and resell them.

PPE has scored a lot of "firsts" in the Dmax performance area, so thinking of them as just a rebadging shop (those do exist, no mfr'g, just rebadging) is false. I've watched them make a lot of different products with my own eyes, and not all of them said PPE on them.

As far as RDL goes, I remember a few years ago when he was asking me about manifolds when I was getting ready to have custom ones made for my truck. We had lots of long conversations on the subject for a long time. I said a log style will be the right design for a turbo diesel application. It will last longer with no significant performance difference over individual tube styles.

He decided to go with shorty headers against my advice, but IIRC, he did use the sizes I recommended.

So if those are RDL's tooling and design, I guess he came up with an good idea. Might have got some inspiration at this site even.

At least with PPE, I will actually be able to purchase them and test them, 3 years later, and I will report what I find. To be honest, I was never able to purchase RDL stuff. I think he was worried I would "copy" them. RIIIGGGHTTT...

The only thing I don't like about those manifolds is how the rear port seems to flow in opposition to the main log portion of the manifold. maybe it's an optical illusion, but that is how it has seemed to me since the first picture I saw. I like the way the medium duty manifolds are designed a lot more.
