Hi all. I've been reading various posts on this site for some time.
Figured I may as well get my first post. I have a 2003 duramax, Had the injectors replaced at 80000 miles on gm's dime. another 80000 had them replaced again on my dime. Truck was running good for about 1000 miles when
I slowly started getting blow-by. It increased to the point that when I stop a fine cloud pours out from the blow by tube. I suspect an injector holddown bolt has backed out. I pulled the vent tubes fro the Valve covers. Left side heavy smoke pours out as soon as I start the motor. Shop ran comp test telling me I lost a ring? I will be pullling the valve cover next week I will let you know what I find.

I'm not sure how they would be able to tell between a failed ring and a lifted injector from a compression test. They would both do the same thing in terms of compression.

Pulling the valve cover and stuffing some compressed air into the suspect cylinder will show you really quick where the leak is. Sounds like you already have that planned out, let us know what you find.

Will do, fingers crossed I find the problem there.
