Thinking about buying a single cab long bed and puting a short bed on it. Has anyone ever done this?? Would like to know what headaches i might run in to.

I've not done a dmax but helped on a dodge. not very bad just take your time and measure, measure, measure before you cut and weld.

Seriously though, it is a pretty involved process, but as others said, it has been done. Looks good when done right :thumb:
I would also use shoulder bolts to mount the spring hangers. They are rivited at the factory so they cannot move around. Bolts will allow movement enough to possibly throw alignment off.
I found those same instructions. I'll be doing that same project on my 2500LD as soon as I find a bed.
I thought I saw a write up here a year or so ago. The guy was in Europe or Austrailia. Was a real clean job. A whole load of pics showing where to cut and weld.
It will not be bad at all. The front two bolts of the bed line up the same. You will need to drill the frame for back four bolt holes. I went one step further, and narrowed the rear frame rails 7.5" on each side and four linked it.

I was thinking of welding the hangers on. I can see bolts to place them, but it would seem a better option to weld the hangers.
