Locking tunes

I know there is a way to lock tunes, anyone want to share? I'm gonna be taking my truck to a local diesel shop for work soon and don't want any funny pcm reading business going on.

I would just load the stock tune but that takes 20 minutes, I'd rather do this if it doesn't take long to do. I searched but couldn't find any how to's.

it takes 20 minutes to reflash a stock tune? i takes me less than 2 minutes?

I have a custom O.S.

Never mind I just found a thread saying a locked tune might not run the same after trying to copy it from an unathorized v2.

I'll just load the stocker no biggy

You have to do a full flash to lock a tune. It'll take just as much time to put it to stock.

why dont you lock the pcm so it cant be read? only full flashed?

When I first loaded my DSP tune it took 15-20 minutes ( I think)... Haven't ever done any other full flashes but I'm sure it will take jsut as long. Partial flashes on my truck take 3 minutes, Nick said his takes 2?? IDK IDC it all works fine enough for me


I decided not to lock the pcm because I just got done reading a thread that if someone attempts to read the tune that is locked it could get currupted and may run funny.

You cant read a DSP tune from LBZ/LMM

First off....What is custom about your os?
Second....It is your LBZ right?
third....the v2 will just error if you try to pull your DSP tune. Try it. take less time than full flashing from the sounds of it.

First off....What is custom about your os? I thought all DSP tunes were ran off a custom os? Also It is not the same os number as my stock truck ran

Yes the DSP programming is custom os so to speak, but 20 minutes is not right, mine is like 7 minutes for a full flash and 2-3 for a partial.

but anyhow, you wont be able to read a dsp tune from your truck

EVERY DSP OS auto locks when you flash it in. This is why the lock option (actually unlock in this case) is removed in DSP OS's. Though this was done not because everyone wanted auto locking, it was a technical issue with the Bosch ECM that would have cause major problems when people read a DSP tune. So just make sure you keep your DSP files safe as they cannot be read back out.
I don't see this being a problem for people, in fact it's probably a bonus for a lot of tuners.

Thats weird, I didn't know that and tried to pull the DSP tune off of my truck while I was out of town b/c I didn't have my hard drive with me. It pulled the tune off of the truck, but it wasn't a DSP tune, just pulled the base tune from the DSP set up. Is mine a freak?
