Lock up box

I think the next step for my truck is a lock up box. My truck is a DD, but drag racing is what i like to do with it. I like the auto mode of the BT box for daily driving, but would much prefer the price of the Fleece or DHD unit. I'd like to hear some input from those that have any of the above boxes and talk me into one or the other.

The BT box has safties built in to help unlock in the event you cannot hit the switch. With the fleece or DHD if you come to a stop locked the engine will die, unless they changed something recently that's how they work.

I love my BT box,it works great and the auto function is great! Ben is an electrical genius and has a lot of tech built into his box.

Not this sh!t again

I like the BT L/U box quite well, and I really like how you can program a delay into the lock up function after the "switch" is tripped, to allow the turbo to do a little more work before lock up which keeps the HP/TQ above the curve @ lockup

Pro's and cons to either side, some havent had the best luck with BT, I have tho, Ben has always gotten back to me in a timely fashion regarding orders/questions and his products have always worked (the 2 I have)

I'm with him ^^^ I have the DHD as I've heard outstanding reliability with it. Kyle harbin here went from a BT to DHD and convinced me. It locks every time when you flip the switch no questions asked no second guesses. But it doesn't have the auto feature like BT which seems nice.

OP, since you have a 5 speed I would highly recommend the DHD switch. Yes it is big and chunky, but it works everytime without fail. Since your trans will not lock in first you dont need to worry about forgetting to unlock it and stalling the engine or crashing as a result. Just have to remember to switch it off or you can burn out your TCC solenoid.

I use mine exactly like the BT box i have on my other truck, I hit it to lock while staging, and as soon as the truck hits second gear it locks. I also use it to unlock on the highway to keep from blacking out the road when trying to make a pass in fifth gear.

Captphil . I'll add to this for any LMM guys out there. With the DHD box once you switch over to manual mode the converter will no longer lock by itself until you shut the truck off for a few minutes and let the tcm do whatever it does. When racing I just leave it in manual mode and flip it to lock when I want it locked

I use the manual mode to unlock it (since it will unlock immediately if the big switch is in unlock) when passing on the highway, but it has always locked back up immediately when i put it back to factory mode. So not sure what you mean about it wont lock up again until you shut the truck off.

I will have the arming switch above mounted on my overhead where the methanol switch is and the actual locki ng switch a handheld button like nitrous or a switch. A little ingenuity can go a long way ! DHD has been proven time and time again for reliability . But I think the BT features would be nice no doubt .I just need to stop messing with stuff on my truck

How big is the universal mount version of the DHD box? Could it sit in a cup holder when not in use?

It seems people say the DHD is more reliable. What issues have been had with Fleece or BT?

Thanks for the input everybody. I want to order soon but don't want to end up with buyers remorse. It seems about every time i do something to the truck i wish i went a different route afterwards.

It is big. I wish i had a picture of mine. I mounted it to the bottom of the dash right next to my center console. It isnt in the way at all and is easily accessible.

I would say the box is 2" wide x 4" long x 3" high, in other words it isnt small.

I havent heard of any issues with teh fleece box. Some BT boxes have had issues. I just like how the DHD locks the TC immediately, every time you flip the switch. I havent used the fleece box but from what i understand it is the same type system.

The Fleece box is the same. An arming rocker switch, then a push button to force lock or force unlock.

My DHD universal box seems to work perfect in my LMM? What complaints are you having? I had some issues when I had a lockup efi tune and also the dhd box. I put stock tcm tune in and it works perfect every time.
