How about a place where we can have a list of local shops? I understand that to sell parts you need to be a vendor, but for small shops it just isn't worth the price to be able to say, hey I have a 3 bay shop if you are within 70 miles of me, when I have 0 intent for online sales. Maybe a mini vendor status where you cannot advertise stuff for sale online, but just that you have a shop in X area? It would also be nice if you were traveling and could find a members shop for a repair VS taking a guess and ending up at a shady borderline chopshop.

IDK may be like in the beginning of each regional area pages have a shop list, charge $50-$100 to have a post in it with basic description on the shop

true, but I bet all the vendors on here did it 99% just for the internet sales. Seems like not many vendors push the local business that much. And if you limit it to one post in the regional section that would be a big difference than having your own subsection where you can advertise parts and sales. IDK, just trying to come up with an idea for guys like me, who have a small weekend hobby shop that might run 50 hours per month, and has 0 interest in doing online sales or parts sales but would like to get the word out to other dmax guys that are in the area. I can see where it would get really tricky between that and a full time vendor, but I would think the ability to advertise price of parts would separate it.

If you do good work and your really only doing it 50 hours a month you won't have any problem staying busy without having a free spot on the forum.

I think its a great idea but for a guy like you in the area your in you need to go hit some mom and pops breakfast places and hang a card on the cork board or the supermarkets.once you get rollin and get the word out you will be turning bussiness down very shortly i would think.

yea I already have some guys lined up, I don't think that will be the issue, it really was more I would rather help out other forum members from getting hosed by the shady stuff going on around here, but I could understand paying some to make it fair for the vendors

Even if it was one post, no links to shop pages, only a basic description of what the shop can do and a contact. That way you end up in an area, you can look in that section and see the shops that would be good to go to. I guess really it should have input from the paying vendors on here that run shops and see what they think. And could still do a small charge to make sure every joe bob and tom does not post up on it.

Shady stuff lately due to the oil field workers and miners out there or what? Other than that, ND doesn't have much going on to begin with

Problem is there are paid vendors that might have a personal grudge on a small shop for taking work from them, or doing something they can't. Maybe the small shop is closer to person looking for work to be done, and the price difference/milage is the deal breaker for the vendor. Then there are the people who go around behind the scenes sending PM messages to the person interested in the "local" small shop, because they are friends with the big name, and bad mouth the local shop to help a buddy/vendor out. It won't happen, it wouldn't be fair to the paying vendor!

The dodge dealer is charging 160/hr and has a couple week long wait list, they don't drug test anyone here b/c they know that as long as the guy sort of works they can't find anyone else to work. Not saying that there are not a lot of good people up here, but with an unemployment rate of 2.1% you really have no choice on who you hire

I don't get it man. 2.1% is wicked low. Sure they have a choice. Hey, i know dealer techs aren't the sharpest tools in the shed many times, but seriously. The price is probably so high now because of all the money in the area all of a sudden. And where is the closest gm dealership?

It is worse in other towns, pizza hut is starting at 15/hr, the McDs over in Wilston has its own housing. For a while housing was 3500 per month for a 4 bed 2 bath. its bad. getting better but yea if you need work this is the place for it
