I found a good deal on a 6" ADM driveshaft that has 1480 series Ujoints. As far as I can tell, my truck has 1485 joints. I've read about thinner snap rings on the slip yoke, but what about the rear yoke? Should I get new yokes on both ends to make this a legit swap?

my LMM had the AAM 1485. I swapped both ends with 1480 and just thinned down the circlips, as you mentioned.

Nothing. I thinned the circlips and installed the 1480 at both ends of the driveshaft. There were no issues.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch. Picked up an ADM 6" .125 wall for $650. Was hoping it wasn't gonna turn into alot more money to get it to work lol.

I threw 1480s in mine both ends. Got moogs. Didn't have to thin anything down but doesnt mean I did it right haha. My rear pinion bearing blew yesterday and now gotta find a 1480 slip which is proving tough without making calls, seems like pinions are easy to grab. Wally that's why two weeks is easier hah.

Harbin, get solid joInts. These serviceable ones have had me cringing at times. Always seems like one bearing isn't getting grease

I did solid Spicer. Jack - how the F did you get it back together without thinning the clips?! I'm surprised you could jam the clips in.

Thanks for that number. Did you Get the nickel one or uncoated?

Wally I did it at the end of the front end rebuild but i don't think I had any trouble I just remember pinching them in good. Was a long day though so I who knows really, or the moogs came with the right ones. the joInts themselves were tight as hell going in

I'm thinking they Moogs were the correct part number. I had to really sand and sand to get my clips to fit. There was no way that they would have gone in as-is
