LMM transfer case question

I'm dealing with a crack in my housing from the drain bolt. It didn't seem like I over tightened the hell out of it, but it cracked. SO, I'm trying to decide on repair options. Can anyone confirm that the LMM is indeed aluminum? I've heard opinions but I don't know for sure.

If it is Magnesium, I'm planning to drill a stop, JB Weld the crack, and cross my fingers. If it is Aluminum I was thinking about drilling a stop, and then welding the crack or JB Weld.

In either event, I suppose I'll need to save up for a replacement cover :(

Thanks,
Wally

Solid advice. I will, but for now I need to keep her rolling until the part arrives.

Do you sell that or recommend anywhere in particular, or is this just dealer-only? I'm seeing a lot of pre-LMM online but not mine. TNX!

Mike and his crew just swapped my pump rubbed mag housing, for the aftermarket aluminum one. The repair was performed perfectly.

I saw the aluminum ones and the pump rub, but I think that's for the older tcase. Mine is an LMM.

Since I'm leaving this week for Danville (20hr round trip), I texted George on Saturday to see if he could sneak me in - he can :woott:. If I had time I'd DIY,but I don't feel like trying to rush deliver the part and then rush the install/learning-curve myself.

I appreciate the help, all!!!!!
