Thanks guys ill be looking into a dodge setup or a locker from Yukon most likely, idk about Yukon but Detroit lockers bang hard.

The dodge unit is a good bang for the buck, after the G80 grenanded in my business partners 03 and busted a hole through the housing and diff cover we replaced it with a dodge unit from randys ring & pinion.. That was 4 years ago and after a bunch of abuse its still working perfectly. But like previously stated it has its short comings compared to a true locker and even the G80 when off roading IMO..

they are basically the same so expect clicking/banging when you turn and have no throttle input

IMHO, ARB gets my vote. just wish they werent so damn expensive. BTW, they do not turn into a locker when clicked "on". they act exactly like a spool when turned on (tires will stay locked together till you blow the diff up or break an axle) and exactly like an open diff when turned off.

My G80 will not lock if i hit the throttle around a turn but my inside tire usually looses traction instantly if i do. in a straight line or off roading, it has not let me down. I can hang a tire well into the air and it will lock right up and keep me moving. 170k and still tickin.

i should probably pull the diff cover and look at it but i really dont wanna see whats in there :D

The truck won't be off roading.. I daily drive it and drag race it wouldn't mind pulling a sled once in a blue moon I have before but one I get my motor built and I hope that's soon it will be parked in the winters and only a toy for the summer. Hopefully I can just get away with replacing it with a dodge unit don't wanna spend to much for something I don't need and put it towards a motor.

What I don't understand Is both tires will drive in the snow and spin but on dry asphalt only the passenger side will. Must work when there's less traction?:confused:

Could be a variety of things but my guess would be the clutches inside the G80 are worn.. My understanding is its rebuildable but ive never looked into it or read about any one who has rebuilt one:confused:

I have a grizzly paid 900 for it.. I like it seems to do what its meant to do.. Its a drifting machine now lol

The unit is fine for street use. The thing I don't like about the dodge unit is if you are doing any offroading the tire you need to turn damn sure wont! I never had problems with the factory units or even auburn units but this particular one is pretty frustrating.

I had a lot of problems with my G80 and I wouldn't put one back in a truck.

I would get an aftermarket LSD or Locker, do your research. I wouldn't get the ARB, because sometimes it's nice to have traction without being locked on both tires or having to turn on the compressor and lock. I think ARBs are great for offroad trucks where you want to be able to switch between open and locked.

I've personally only known one person with a complaint with the Yukon Grizzly and have been happy with the other Yukon products I've used.

Tony, wasn't yours causing poor fuel economy? I have noticed a decrease in my highway fuel economy and am thinking the G80 maybe the culprit...
