I've recently noticed that my truck will no longer lock posi for lack of a better term. Best fix? Don't know if a locker would be the best choice but would consider it.

OPTIONS...Replace the factory G80, replace with a dodge torsen unit, replace with a mechanical/racheting style locker such as a Yukon Grizzly or lastly ARB makes a nice air locker..

How does the dodge unit hold up? Thanks

Better then the factory G80 IMO.. The dodge 11.5 unit (Torsen IIRC) works well but I have noticed it does not like to stay locked as good as the G80 when in off camber situations (Off Roading) etc.... I think the G80 works great and is preffered over the torsen IMO but thats only if it works properly and often the G80's do not after some abuse... If money isn't a object and you want the best of both worlds I would recommend the ARB. Open diff for daily driving, fuel mileage, tight turns, etc but a full locker with a flip of a switch when your pulling, racing, playing off road or on the street...

What are guys doing to break these? I have done tons of rolling burn outs, launched at the track numerous times on drag radials and slicks at 30psi, Funk has launch his literally hundreds of times on slicks and radials and numerous top fuel burn outs on the street and ours are still working. Just wondering what you all are doing at the time or previous to the failures. Mainly so I know what not to do.

Thanks maybe ill try my luck with a dodge set up a locker is to much I think the truck is going to be just a toy and drag truck once the motor is built but it will still see the street.

The ones I have seen fail we're a result of guys spinning their rear tires when they have different traction surfaces. IE one tire is in dirt the other on dry pavement, when the locker engages it goes snap...

My disfuction started after a set of tires that were ready to be replaced a 12 pack and something I thought I needed to prove:roflmao:. All was done on dry pavement and when I drove back the next day past my artwork I noticed the last one was a one legger never worked since.

I had a lot of problems with my G80 and I wouldn't put one back in a truck.

I would get an aftermarket LSD or Locker, do your research. I wouldn't get the ARB, because sometimes it's nice to have traction without being locked on both tires or having to turn on the compressor and lock. I think ARBs are great for offroad trucks where you want to be able to switch between open and locked.

I've personally only known one person with a complaint with the Yukon Grizzly and have been happy with the other Yukon products I've used.

I chose to upgrade to the detroit true track, aka the torsen locker.
Not in yet, sorry no feedback, just a choice so far.....

I would have to disagree, I have the Yukon in my DD currently and have been running it since 2010... It functions well but it constantly binds and chucks the wheels when turning sharp. It hardly ever unlocks but when it does it will literally shift the truck to the right at highway speeds. It also chew's your back tires up. The ARB is a flick of a switch from a open diff to a full locker. Also its not like Eatons front locker were you have to be damn near stopped to engage it, just flip the switch at will (With in Reason).... From PERSONAL experience running the G80, Torsen, Grizzly, & the ARB, my vote is ARB for a daily driver truck that likes to play around at the track or pulling on the weekends. Now if the truck is going to spend more time on a 1/4 strip or pulling track then the street I would vote for the grizzly simply because its cheaper then the ARB and easier to install (No compressor, wiring, etc..).....
