I dont have EFI but the volt meter takes a full couple minutes of idle to get right up to 14.8 volts, which tells me that its still on and functioning in temps well above 40 degrees. I can start it here at 90 degrees and it'll still take a few minutes for the volt gauge to come up. It dosent take any more or less time than when I lived in northern NY.

So are these ambient temp controlled or not? Could they be on a timer of some sort or even controlled by engine coolant temp?

Does anyone have a service manual or wiring diagram to check this out?

I know that here in vegas, I wont even get a code from it when I start my truck at 60°F. I stiil have the code cleared. I read somewhere, I think here that it kicks in below 40°F. I have Ran without the heater for awhile now with now issues. Everything seems normal. Even at 30°F temps, it seems to be pretty normal start up. I will get the code sometimes when its cold and I dont have a tune in with it set to not report.) Maybe EFI will someday give us the tables to shut it off...

Has EFI been asked about this yet Mike?

i havent asked, I guess that would be a good idea, lol. Like I said I just turned off the codes and it was good to go.

My install ( so what if I dont have a motor, I was having withdrawls of not working on my DMax :D )

I ported/polished (lol) the spacer and am in the process of doing the rest of the pieces, need to get an extension for the dremel to get deep inside there. The casting surface inside is horrendous! i doubt itll make much/any difference in airflow, but why not, right? Itll make me feel better haha.

All you need is the 6mm allen wrench and 12mm socket.

If only there was a way to pull without pulling the intake tube.... It's cold in Colorado, but would run without it in the summer and reinstall during the winter, if it was a 10 minute job.

So did Banks copy your piece or has theirs been out for a while?

IDK. I never seen anyone sell these before, however I did not research to see if anyone did. I simply went out, pulled my heater grid from my truck drew up one in cad and had it cut. It worked and I rolled with it. How ever I have been told that nobody else could find them so I would assume banks just came out with them. I know for a fact I didnt copy anyone, and I doubt banks copied mine lol. There is really only 1 way to do this. banks can prolly make them cheaper than me, and will prolly be able to market them way better than me, as I am just some guy in Vegas that wanted to delete his heater grid lol.

do they even make one for LBZ/LMM, I saw one in DW for a dodge I think???

And if they did use my Idea, hope they would be considerate enough to throw a fellow diesel enthusiast a bone (or parts)....lol. I dont have the coin to patent something like that lol. Again, I am not sure if I am the only one to come up with this anyway.
