I know my buddy (foreman at Chevy dealer here) pulls the cab. Says he can have the cab in the air in 20-30 minutes. Then everything is super easy to get to.

No f**king way! Takes longer than that to just get the fan shroud off an LBZ/LMM! Especially when someone has some hacked up add on wiring...

I got $2k cash on a bet he can't do it in that amount of time...lmfao!

LB7/LLY Id say yes. I'm getting good at those but yeah that fan shroud has to cost some time. how does one do that? the fan shroud that is? cant you just leave the fan in the shroud and lift it off together?

Idk what all is involved. I just know he does good work on my truck. He made it sound much easier pulling the cab, then any other way. I guess when you have all the right tools and do it every week then it makes a big difference.

I don't question him, he works on only dmaxs everyday. When we were talking about a turbo swap on my LMM, I mentioned going at it from the front, he said **** that, we are pulling the cab.:spit:

Don't shoot the messenger:D

I can have my valley turbo out in about 45 min and I have to take all the twin setup off. Cab on and only get under the truck for the drivers side up pipe bolts, everything else is done from the top. The down pipes do suck to do. I take the heat shield off and out than do the pipe.

I'd much rather pull the Trans than the engine or cab. Trans is an easy 1 or 1.5 hr job

45min Harbin?!?! Shit, I could have driven to your house, had you swap the turbo last weekend, and been home in the time it took me to swap my turbo! LMFAO.

Cat - I did my downpipe about 6 years ago. All I remember was that it was obvious after a short amount of time that I could sawzall that puppy in half and get it out a lot faster than playing Houdini. IIRC it was pretty simple/quick job and hacking it helped it to be so.

Don't pull dipstick all the way out then try to put pipe in lol won't work. Slide it up about 3"s and leave it in the gromet. My heat shield is in 2 pieces also.

Yeah I've done them I just didn't know if there was any tricks that someone might know of. the first time I did one the owner helped me and I finally said well I guess you get to ride the rig up on the lift and I'll get underneath and do it that way.." Just don't forget you 10 feet up and go to step back and fall on you back LOL it worked pretty good.

Any tips for R&R the factory turbo. I've done one on my LLY and it wasn't bad, but it looks a lot more cramped on the lmm. I'm not really looking forward to it...
