So after much neglect its tine to change my fluid in my transmission, im just curious what everyone is running for fluids and if i should just drain and fill and change the external filter or drain fill and drive a few days and drain an fill an change external filter and how much fluid does it take for a fill.

Poor tranny has 126k, this winter im planning just changing all fluids, t case rear diff power steering ect.

I use Transynd. I would drain and fill and change the external filter. If the fluid looked really bad then I would pull the pan and change the external filter

Where do you buy it, everywhere i find it online is like 48$+ a gallon

ATP sells it or Smith Power Products down by the Boise Airport is the local Allison dealer. You can also pick up a spin-on filter for around $8 while you're there.

Another alternative is Delvac 1 ATF that you can find at any truck stop. It too is a TES-295 approved fluid.

Of course, I'm assuming you're in or near the Treasure Valley...
