HSP would be a good place. They are reputable easy to work with and care about what they do.

S Pinney, I am located in Paw Paw, Michigan. Any suggestions on reputable builders in the area? Merchant jacked up their labor rate 30% to $125/HR so I doubt I'll be going that route, but don't know of many builders in Mi. I've taken my truck to wehrli's shop a couple times now so I'll probably end up there.
I got my transmission built at Wehrli this last February and put a little over 30k miles on so far.. Seems like they did a good job on it, just wish I woulda went with a different convertor then they recommended.. I've got a 1058 and its looser than I was wanting for sure..

I forgot about HSP. I have a buddy that knows a couple guys there and has had some work done by them. I will have to give them a call. Mike and Evan do you have experience with both the 1078 and the R? I know the 1078 is Evans baby and the R is Mikes but which would you recommend for what I am after? It sounds like I can't go wrong either way. I just don't want to be wondering "what if" after I have this done.

Kiwi the 1058 is too loose for your S400? I would think you would want it to be loose to spool that charger.

I have no experience with Evans 1078. He told me he thought the 1078 and R were similar.

You can't go wrong with either one.

The R will stall to 2200+ if need be. It couples very well and tows well. A lot depends on the truck. I'll let Evan talk about the 1078.

Not trying to jack this thread Mike, but if you don't remember, I am the one who called you looking for the lowest stall converter.

Don't forget, I'll be at your shop on the 20th :woott:

That's what I thought and yeah mine will go to 2500 no problem though..

I have no trouble building over 20 pounds of boost just sitting still, and when I stomp it from a stop or slow roll it just feels like it revs up and just stays up there until it locks.. I just think a tighter convertor would feel a little better for me and what I do..
