I rebuilt a local guys LML that cracked 4 pistons. I have been having to hold his hand ever since. Stock engine and fuel with a wc Fab s300 kit. . Latest issue is it's setting a p10cf. IAT sensor 3 not plausible. It's reading -40*f. Which I believe to be normal since it's not being used. Here's the problem: I'm fairly certain that sensor is in the outlet of the stock turbo charger which obviously is not being used now and hasn't been for 2 to 3 years. Ppei guy just told me it's not their fault since it ran before without the problem. Has anyone ran into this or can you confirm that IAT number 3 is that sensor?

Why can't they simply turn it off? They have "full control" of LMLs. Or so they say

IAT sensor 2 is the one in the turbo. I just unplugged it on a 2011 here at the shop and it went to -40*. So maybe I jumped the gun getting ahold of ppei. IAT 3 must be somewhere else on a 2015. This 2011 only has 2.

I'll bet sensor 3 is the one in the plastic tube between the intercooler and intake. Post intercooler temp basically. Would make sense anyway.

Ok, I just found that 2011 & 2015 sensors are not the same configuration. For all years, the one in the plastic ic pipe is called the charge air cooler temp sensor. On this 11, it then has 2 iat sensors. #1 is the maf, #2 is the turbo outlet. Meanwhile the 2015+ has another sensor right by the maf, I think it's for air humidity. But it is iat #1, maf is #2 and the turbo outlet is #3.

Now I can argue with ppei some more

I had a 2011 from Rhode Island that installed a wherli s366 kit with ppei tuning that couldn't finish the truck on his own and get it running right. After finding and fixing all the leaks, I discovered that wherli's kit didn't include the proper size bungs for the IAT sensor after the turbo and CAC temp sensor. They only put in NPT bungs. After going back and forth with ppei, about the possibility of tuning one out or rescaling the table to match a lbz/lmm style sensor, which I could tap the bungs for, I was told the logs looked great and they didn't see anything wrong with how it was running and that the tuning changes to correct the CEL and intermittent reduced power condition were going to be extra charges. The kid came and picked the truck up because he was in a bind, and I forwarded him all the emails so he could pick it up where I left off with them, or he could take it up with wherli and get the piping replaced...not sure what happened with it. It was a rotten deal all around.

Ppei sent new tunes for me that I put on his autocal. I haven't had him back to reflash yet but I have him driving with the sensor plugged in and zip tied up to try.

Good deal. So far what little I've dealt with PPEI has actually been pretty good.

2015 LML SXE 369 Code P10CF

I know that you figured out the problem, I am having the same problem and would like to get it figured out and try to get this Pesky Code from coming on the dash every couple weeks. I have read all that you have posted and understand what you have found, but I am still a little lost what sensor is it exactly that is throwing the issue and how do I fix it, is it just a simple replacement sensor I need or is it tuning related.

Thanks. Chilleren

Do you have the stock turbo still?

The code popped up after a couple years of running with the same setup with no code. Neither I nor PPEI have an explanation for that. Their tune revision fixed it, but i do not know what they did specifically. In fact, it was difficult to convince them that the problem was on their end due to the timeline of it.

Like i said previously in the thread, i was able to see the iat 3 sensor was reading max like it should while unplugged. When i plugged that sensor back in and just let it lay zip tied to something, the code would not come back up. After the PPEI tune revision, i was able to remove the sensor again and just leave it out.

Maybe I missed it, but did you reflash the truck with the original tune before getting the new tune? Full flash or cal? I’m curious if the new tune fixed the problem or just reset some timer/counter that will reappear in 2yrs.
