Starboard engine won't be as uncluttered, the turbo's pointing the wrong direction.
Compressor housing is aluminum right?
Not too much trouble to v band it.
Think there would be much benefit to water cool the first 4-6" coming out of the compressor??

Yeah that housing is aluminum, so you can weld a v-band ring to it. There is like 6 bolts on the back side of compressor housing, once removed it slides right off. The housing orientation is not fixed either. So you can rotate the output direction to better fit the other engine layout.

Key to those flex couplers is keeping the space between metal tubes short as possible. On the hot side of the charge cooler air temps can reach 400F for minutes under heavy boost. So a lager surface area is more susceptible burning and failure under pressure. Boots are also available in multi-layers with high heat resistant inside and oil resistant outside materials. That's typically what the OEM's use.

Also need to make sure there is a lip on each end of metal charge tubes to prevent the clamps and boots from sliding off under high pressure when hot. But I don't see any advantage to water cooling the section from turbo to charge cooler. Just beware that tube is hot to the touch...

I thought I looked at rotating the compressor housing a while back and the bolt pattern wouldn't allow it. I'll check. Yeah I just cut some tubing up to see how things lined up, I'll run the real tubing thru a bead roller, still waiting on the other charge cooler.
Got one 5 by 28 heat exchanger than Cummins uses, need one more.

Are those silicone elbows temporary for mock up? Being an offshore boat, those nonmetal elbows would have to go. They're too prone to fail under boost to risk being stranded offshore. Have you thought about that?

Just making sure they line up before pulling engines back out to test run and rig and repaint the bilge.
Heat exchangers/brackets will bolt to center stringer underneath engines

Fewer unions is diffidently better, but my judgment is still out on Vband vs good quality boots in boat setups. Lot of flexing motions in the boats over extended periods of time.

The boots are an easy repair out on the water if ya keep a couple spares in the tool bag. Also looks like Vibrant changed their design regarding lettering depth. My buddy had a structural band failure with an older one where lettering is extruded clear thru. Caught it letting loose on his GoPro at like 50psi boost. Thinking maybe V-Band on the turbo and rubber on the coolers as good solution...

^ This, I'd only be worried about using elbows! A straight coupling with the tubes nearly butted together shouldn't have any problems, I wouldn't think. It would also allow for some movement, ya know when you air that baby out!

Yeah I replaced like 3 of the 2.5-3" boots, and only 1 of the 3-3" ones over 4yrs. Two of the first ones were cheap single material $5 ebay POS that lasted about a week till I got some good ones. The straight one I replaced cause it didn't match rest in color...

Basically if tight gaps with no transitions then heat didn't seem to bother them. But that one on the turbo is getting blasted with major temps over a 1" gap which seemed to be the issue. Usually notice a little boost loss on gague, then all the sudden BOOM!! Scare the crap out of ya first time it happens... :spit:

Hoping to get time next week to fit the real tubing. Do y'all think I should boot the cooler and weld everything in between or leave a boot in the middle also?

I'd weld everything ya can down to the charge cooler. But gotta be spot on with alignment. If you think that may be an issue, leave a boot in a straight section somewhere.

Nice work on the compressor housings.

Gotta start somewhere, if I remember right the prop calculator put them at 70mph @ WOT/3600rpm/15% slip.
