LML converter in LBZ. Anything I else I need to do?

My stock converter slips under load and shudders at lock up while at full throttle. Running EFI live by Quinton Schwertner with my biggest tune being 120HP, a transgo JR, and a airdog lift pump with a shimmed fprv. I bought a LML converter this morning to throw in since I don't have the money for a full build at the moment. I'm going to do new internal filter and spin on filter and and chage what ever fluid comes out of pan. Is there anything else I need to check so I don't put bad fluid in to the new Converter? I read somewhere I think about a metal screen behind one of the tranny lines on the trans cooler that can get clogged with paper lining from the stock slipping converter? Should I clean that out as well? If so where is it located? Thanks in advance for all input!

The cooler itself can get plugged. You should flush or replace the Stock transmission cooler. The one located in the radiator.

Could my cooler be plugged even if my trans is staying perfectly cool even when towing heavy?

I don't have a crystal ball.

I could venture to GUESS that it's not COMPLETELY plugged if it's staying cool.

But you still need to check it and flush it at the very least.

Follow this advice. Any trans part failure that can potentially pass debris through the cooler should be reason to flush it. Otherwise you'll be right back where you started
