my buddy down in TX is picking up a good shape 04 LLY w 190K on it . It run good and is pretty clean and will prob grab it for $10K , it is 2 WD , but in TX he does not need the 4WD. What are the main things he should be aware of?

Do LLYs need injectors after that many miles?

Will it need the pump rub fix?

it has EGR delete and that is it, old guy owned.

Any advice appreciated :hug::hug:

I'd install an LBZ Mouthpiece. Check balance rates. Make sure you do a PCV reroute. That should be it

injector return rates are the main issue. balance rates and so on are generally not an issue. when they wear out, they start returning alot of fuel. makes for hard cranking or a lope at idle if bad enough.

Lol first the Elephant in the room... if it’s 2wd no on the “pump rub” :roflmao:
Injectors should be fine but definitely do a balance test
Check the standard things like oil eng/trans/diff coolant
Ujoint play wheel bearing play steering slop
Like mentioned do a LBZ style mouthpiece PCV reroute FPRV shim or plug

Is the "ice pick" thing on the injector plug (at least I think it's on the plug?) not a thing to have to worry about until the issue actually happens? Nothing to do in order to prevent it from ever happening?

I just put some updated plugs on cyl 2 and 7 of mine. they are not gm, they came from fish tuning and the metal connector inside looked way better than the factory gm one. See how long they last. i waited till they decided to screw with me. cyl 7 got ice picked (pushed in enough to bend the metal connector, not pierce it) about 2-3 years ago and then cyl 2 finally started giving up connection in Dec. the harness had about 150k on it before i got it, thats what brian thought atleast when i got it from him.

so yes, imho, id just wait till it happens and carry an ice pick. then change them when you get time. there are a few places that make updated ones now.
