I need some help with an issue on a turbo I just replaced. I bought a used one off of eBay (I know it was risky). And the first thing I noticed was a loud roar at acceleration. Almost like a bad bearing noise. Also when I shut it down you can hear it making the same noise as the wheel spins and comes to a stop. The wheel has probably a 1/16th of an inch of play side to side but so did my old turbo and it never sounded like this, ( I replaced it due to stuck vanes). I don't want to contact the seller until I can get some insight on the turbo and see if I might of done something wrong installing it. I also put a pro fab egr delete and a lb7 passenger up pipe. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

With my old one when you turn the compressor wheel it doesn't spin smoothly as it should( half turn and it feels like its grabbing or binding up) so I figured there was more to it than just stuck vanes

Is it possible that I just haven't ran it long enough and the bearings weren't oiled good yet? I only drove it a few miles and it didn't really get up to operating temperature.

If I move the wheel to towards the housing i t doesn't touch, but I can't see the exhaust side that's where the noise is coming from

I'll take one later today, I contacted the seller and he acted like he would make it right. Hopefully I'll get my money back on it, I definitely learned my lesson after all the time I spent swapping out these turbos.

If its been sitting in his garage I bet the bearings got alittle trash on them. Samething happened to me after buying a used one. My compressor ate into the housing.

Pulled the turbo this afternoon, it has a good bit of contact in the exhaust housing. Talked to the seller he said he would give me a full refund. So need less to say I learned my lesson. Does anyone have a good used stock turbo for sale?
