this has been an issue for several years now, if truck is moving and I put in 4x4 there is a major "Clunk".. so I've been lazy and have never gotten around to fixing it as it still works if I come to a stop and then engage 4wd

I did pump some fluid into it a couple years ago but haven't checked it and simply figured if it gets worse and dies I will repair it then, holding out for the inevitable I guess..

probably looking at a new TC I guess, but it still drives great without any noises whatsoever in 2wd.. if in fact I'm past a MA pump rub fix with half case does anyone know where I can get a good rebuild with the pump rub fix already installed??

I don't know where you are located, but I just had the back half of my transfer case replaced with the aluminum case and a pump rub kit and it cost less than the entire kit from merchant. And that was installed. Mike L @ Inglewood transmissions. Give him a call if that's anywhere near you. On the "clunk" that may be fixed by replacing the back half of the case and refilling the fluid, if it still works from a stop then the transfer case is obviously still functional. A new/rebuilt case will cost you 2k and the fix will cost less than a quarter of that. Good luck!

Does it just clunk once on engagement? Mines a stick but if I lock it it while in the throttle it can clunk, I always push in the clutch or pop it in neutral and engage 4x4. If i unlock it while cruising it clunks hard as well. I figured that was normal.
