LLY Pistons Performance Build??

are any of you guys using factory lly pistons in a performance build? i am selling my truck and when it is sold the truck i am buying has already started a motor build and is an lly. are these alright to use or should i find some lb7 pistons to use in there place? the pistons are already cut and i will be sending them off to be coated if i buy it. i am looking for some good ideas and feedback, thanks ahead of time!!

I was under the impression LLY and LB7 pistons were considered as equals. LBZ and later were from a different manufacturer IIRC..

I heard that the 06 LLY had LBZ pistons. Other than that they should be the same piston. They would be made by Mahle.

06 "LLY" is actually an LBZ. It has no parts interchangeability with 04.5-05 LLY's except oil and fuel filter. ECM, TCM, Trans, Engine, Turbo, Injectors, harnesses, etc, are all LBZ part numbers.

The only difference i have seen is a set of 01's had four little oil holes in the side of them were the oil rings go and the lly one's have the holes but don't go all the way through.

I'll get some pics up

I'm going with de-lipped LLY's in my build. No reason they shouldn't work well in a DD truck IMO.

Vegge Mix for LLYs

Gentlemen:

Have any of you seen any recommendations for piston and/or injector modifications to run up to 50% Veg Oil mix in LLY engines ??
