Hello guy, just updating the thread for research purposes. I got the cooler installed, not the cleanest but would like to touch up painting but you get the idea. I did not shroud it either. The truck has a 3” body lift so I went into the old belly ban bolt holes.
I always watch my gauges and I’m very well aware of everything on this truck, once informed about oil cooling I’ve taken an even closer look at oil pressure since.
Today was 91 degrees I drove unloaded under 80hp tune with varying the A/C, what I’ve gathered was much higher oil pressure throughout the entire powerband. Very significant at lower RPM. Another thing I noticed is cooling temps. Did not raise higher than one tick past the 180 mark.
700-800$ later I believe this will prolong the life of the engine wishing I did it earlier. My next newer duramax (perhaps l5p or such) will have an oil cooler as one of its first mods
