I know (or have read) the lly has a bigger housing. I assume compressor.. Do either turbo have a different shape vane? I noticed a lot of llys run 40% vane position while lbzs usually are closer to 20% wot. Why is that? Is it safe to run 40 on my Lbz? Cause I plan I trying, I'm already around 35. I'm still having a bit of trouble with boost and without a map sensor that can actually read correct numbers I think I'm going to need to desire more vane position to insure I stay where I want to be boost wise. My max is already where I see my vane angle when I see full boost. I plan on just desiring a high number aswell so its not hunting for boost as much. If that makes any sense atall. I really don't care if I wear my turbo out, it should last one more year anyways. I don't see high drive pressure hurting my engine either.

Also would I better off just watching maf, and just tune the charger till I get the highest maf readings and not be so worried about boost

It's my understanding that the turbine housing on the LLY turbo is larger.

FYI, the stock map sensor can read up to about 35 psi gauge pressure (it varies depending on barometric pressure).

The exducer dia of the LBZ is .100" smaller IIRC. It gives a wider powerband without affecting top end output. There is a minor diff on the electric plug.

I ran both an LLY and LBZ charger on Casper (LLY) in 2005. ET didn't change, but the LBZ charger had better throttle response.

I can only run a stock turbo to meet pulling rules. I'm really not too worried about egts either. I don't see a quarter mile or 300 ft pulling will hurt anything. If I was towing I would care what they are. Josh do I need to rescale it? My map stops at 37 right now and my baro pressure around here is 14.7 I believe... Not totally sure what it is in central Kentucky though.

Edit at idle my map reads 88kpa and baro is 98kpa. My v2 displays metric

Mine will always hit above 30 right when I hit 70mph. Anytime before that is inconsistant. Sometimes it will cloud traffic, sometimes its a runner.

You'd think so. Must just have a piece of shit turbo or something. Look at all my previous threads going back along time. Been searching for awhile to cure this problem. I may just find a used turbo

I had boost issues also. With my first tune boost would fluctuate up and down during a run and power would come on and off about every two seconds. My second tune would spike to 40 psi then gradually drop to 35 during a full trottle run. A couple tries later and I had around 32 psi and it ran good but felt a little off on power. I finally ditched the vvt and solved all my problems.

If your still running Diesel Addiction tuning ask Dustin for the last revision he sent me for stock turbo tuning. It did pretty good, power wasn't quite as good as it had been but it was very consistant and was still no slouch. No 0087's and solid steady boost around 32-34 psi.
