LLY head questions

I'm about to do my head gaskets this weekend, and I was wondering how many owners out there had problems with cracked/warped heads, bad valves, or a thrashed block. Iv been running my thru j a lot longer the I should have, but no coolant in the oil, and it's not even smoking.

I would have the heads checked while you have them off .

x2. Mine had no cracks but every valve guide and seal needed replacing and the heads needed milled.... about .003 on one and .004 on the other.

Milling and tanking was about $200, pushing in new guides and seal was another $250.... $450 overall.

Only time mine ever smoked was when ambient temps got into the *30 or lower range, then i'd get some white smoke. Otherwise my only indication was an upper rad hose that looked like a balloon and it puked a gallon of coolant every couple days. Never had coolant in oil or vice versa, just pushed it all out the overflow.

It's just something you should do while your in there........

My rad hose is never rock hard, I am getting them milled and pressure checked. It's never seen over 220f, how much can I mill off the heads?

what ever it takes for them to be flat.... typically you dont want to mill more .005 off
