Here's the deal.. I may be looking at a good deal on an egr delete kit:D My question.. I have the EGR blocked and my truck basically never runs over a stock trans safe tune - Is it worth it to delete the egr? Give me reasons.. thanks;)

Can't recall one even wanting to keep the EGR for any reason. Once I was on to that delete from All Season it was the thing we wanted for as long as we saw it on the truck. Tony made it work with the heater grid for our cold ops. Thanksgiving right there!!!!

Unless you change your turbo, the egr starts leaking, or your hell bent on changing the intake pipe to the Y-bridge, I don't see the point in removing it. Just a bunch of un-neccesary work. Blocker plate does it's job just fine.

I'd get rid of it ASAP just because it's ugly, takes up space and brings back bad memories of cleaning the sludge out of my Y bridge. Depending on your state's inspection processes, I'd keep the parts though. :thumb:

I dont need to worry about inspections. What got me going onto this was the other day i blew the radiator hose that goes to the egr cooler.. Thanks for the input so far. How long would you say for a beginner to install?

Personally, I don't think it would be worth the effort, since it is already blocked. But, if you got a good deal on the kit, and have a free weekend, then why not?

Not really difficult at all. Plan on losing some coolant when you unhook the cooler though. And whatever you replace the riser with, make sure it's supported or you will pop the inlet out of your y bridge. Royal pita to get back in. I have a black egr delete pipe for a lly that I made sitting in my garage right now. Already tapped for a boost fitting. Let me know if you're interested.

If you already have a good deal on this from someone. This someone that your buying this from should have pics and colors? Is this person a vendor on this site or does any of the vendors on this sell this persons egr delete kit. I only know of 1 kit that is sold for the for the lly egr delete there was 2 but I dont sell the one Paul made for me anymore just the RDL kit.

x2. If its blocked, its not hurting anything just sitting there.

I'm not running EFI (I have a predator) so I believe I'll need a "finger stick" when the blocker plate goes in (on an LBZ). Correct?
I've put this off FAR too long...
I intend to do pcv reroute at the same time. Sometime over the winter.

Just to clear a few things up its from a vendor on a different forum. I'm getting at a good deal because it is not on the market yet and i will be sort of a "test guy" but thanks for the offers tho!!

Sounds good. If you clamp the hoses going into the cooler before pulling it you will loose a lot less coolant. Then just splice in some new heater hose and that part is done. You will still need a non emissions up pipe or weld a cap on the old up pipe though. I just cut the small pipe off about an inch above the main pipe, heated it up, folded the metal over with a hammer and welded it shut. Easy and free!:thumb:

New to this forum, referred by fast03... I need to post 1 reply before I can start a tread so hope this is a good start!! I am in the process of doing the lbz mouthpiece on the lly install and im at the part where it says to bend the line on the egr cooler aprox 3/8" and now my cooler has a drip at the weld. I now need to either replace my cooler, get the block off kit or weld my current one. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

I've got a cooler delete kit for sale if you need one.

The only way you could weld it would be tig, but imo it doesn't make sense to keep it on there if you're blocking the egr anyway.
