OK I am havin some real issues here and need some help/ ideas and any would be appreciated.
To start off i was driving yesterday from Eastern Sask to Alberta for work. The temp was about -30C. After driving for about 7 hours with no problems, i noticed a real lack of power, little or no throttle responseand smoking more than usual. So i figured, maybe starting to gel up. I pulled over, put in a triple dose of conditioner with anti-gel and topped off the fuel. I managed to make it about 10 miles to the next town with a GM dealer and decided to get it checked out because no real change. The tech put his scanner on and found some EGR codes relating to the EGR Valve and said that it was probably gummed up and needed to be cleaned. COOL, he did that then took it for a drive and all was well. When i got back to the dealership, the tech informed me that the ecm was WAAAYYYY behind on updates and that one of said updates would fix this problem. I tell him to go ahead and update. Later on he told me that he got about 80% of the update donethen it kicked him off and he can't get back into the ecm, the truck will not start now, and they say the ecm needs to be replaced, and my extended warranty is sending out an inspector because they think a chip corrupted the ecm and they don't wanna pay for it. They want 1700 buck to replace the ecm and if the warranty won't cover it, well lets just say ......neither can I!!!
Sorry for the long post but any suggestios or ideas. The truck is an 04.5 LLY,Afe stage 2, 4in turbo back,No chip or programmer....(at least not in the last year due to tranny troubles anyway), but was never abused, 6 in lift and 35 in rubber.
Thanks in advance
Jason
