After blowing up the S480 and sending shrapnel through my S300, I decided to do something I have wanted to do for a while. I decided to swap the shop truck to a “big” single. It isn’t really that big by today’s standards, but it is definitely a big change for me. This is the first non stock single I have ever run on anything I owned. So far, I like it, but I have a few things I need to finalize. The turbo is a 472/87/1.0 with no wastegate anywhere. I really like the way it all came together. That 4” exhaust was a pain, and the 5” intake was a tight fit too. Here are a few pics for you all to check out. I still need to install a new MAF sensor, and I need to build a brace for the intake so it isn’t hanging all that weight off the turbo.

I did the fender exhaust on white devil for a while, it is absurdly loud, lol. You gotta take a video while getting on it.

That's how I had it ran with the compound setup, and I didn't feel like running a whole exhaust.

It really wasn't bad with the compounds, but there is no doubt it is louder with the single. Hopefully it isn't unbearable.

how loose is your converter, josh? everyone i always talk to that runs a big single loves them cause the converter matches the turbo or hates them cause the converter is too tight. or you get the guys that want to tow at 2k rpm on a 475

id love a play truck with a big single on it, loose converter with great coupling and probably keep lock up out of the pic till WOT so that sucker comes on fast

In other news, I got the intake completely finished with a maf sensor and a nice brace. I’m really happy with how everything went together.

I ran downpipe only for a few hundred miles....couldn't stand it. I ran a full 5" MBRP from it, with a muffler, and its still too loud for my liking. Might try to go to one of those billy badass Donaldson units but as far as I can tell from my research on their flow numbers I'm going to be restricting exhaust flow which I definitely don't want.

With my built motor setup (long rods), 6480AF, Goerend J 3k stall, and lots of fuel my 475 honestly is the best driving in terms of street manners and being linear out of all my setups besides a stock charger/built trans.

My Danville 68r was fun but was like a light switch when the veins would open (Yes I know, should've bought Mark's tunes but I didn't). Not bad mouthing the turbo, just didn't drive as good as what I have now.
