So, I have a one year old ATS stage6 with co pilot. I drive like a grandma, had problems one or the other since the day I got it.

Anyway. There is a delay when going from Park to Reverse, then it slams reverse. That's one problem.

The other is that it hangs the 2-3 shift, been doing that for a month. Been getting worse, now sometimes the 3-4. Unplugged the co-pilot last week. Not much change, still acting up. The shifts hang under light acceleration like stop light to stop light around town. Under moderate accel seems to work fine.

Today it actually went into limp, temp seems to rise more than normal in the 190's. Pulled over, gave it a few minutes off and restarted. Came out of limp, but there is a trans code (can't get it until next week)

Here's a short video of the light acceleration before it limped.

What do you guys think he not pissed off enough yet? I'm sure he would get some stunning tech support from them.

Changing the spin on didn't help, but the trans light has since gone away from earlier.

Shifts fine until temp gets above about 130, then it starts hanging shifts.

I've talked to ATS, they have been receptive this past year. Not much they can do over the phone though, so we'll see what happens next week after I hook up a tech2.

IF you have any type of warranty left go to a ATS dealer or call ATS and ask where to go. If your on your own no warranty cut to the chase and drop the pan. IF you expect warranty coverage don't self help bring it to where they want you to.

Don't wait for them to offer warranty coverage or tell you where to go they wont except when it's to late.

What year truck and what transmission did you get? Where is your location? You said ATS built the transmission was it drop in unit or did you go to their facility?

Man thats crazy....I know us ohio boys have had good luck with our ATS trannys. Some of us have went low 11's and i know mine has been in since 07 with about 130 sled pulls and prob 40 1/4 mile passes as fast as 11.94. I hope i will get another season out of it but thats also what i said about the engine ..... Im suprised at what kind of converter failure ATS has. I thought they were decent converters until recently the people that say they let go. That could be my high trans temp proplems that i have.

The only one that has never had a issue with a ATS transmission is Tomac. I went through one and still have one in my truck. So far so good and I have put it through some abuse but not much any more. These were drop in units

Would I do it again? Probably not as Suncoast seems to have the Allison running the best.

The first one failed shortly after being installed de-laminated cluthes. Clearly a warranty coverage failure and that was where the problem was. Their BS and a ATS dealer installation requirement is just that BS. Your on your own they give you no list in your area it's up to you to find one. IMO when you have a failure or a problem and you call tech support they should TELL you bring it here! Nope nuttin

There is only a couple places in my area I'd let work on my truck. I trust my Chevrolet dealer 100% they're the ones that did the install. Who better? No one IMO

Since they aren't a authorized dealer ,well you get it. Then I find out through ATS finally who is a authorized dealer in my area they tell me Jannetty Racing! As many times as I've been there never new it. I would have literally pushed my truck there as they are the only other one that I would allow to work on my truck as Ted stands behind his work.

The kicker is about this "authorized dealer" BS is I did them a favor ans swapped out valve bodies on my back for them KNOWING it wasn't the issue. Here they'd allow me to work on it ,non authorized dealer but they were giving me shit about the dealer. Go figure

Nonetheless I was pretty pissed as they wouldn't fork over the labor costs. BUT if not for Wade brokering a deal I'd still have a spare transmission a extra valvebody and crate sitting here on my floor. In the end Clint did make it right.

ATS sells good products and their transmissions I'm sure can keep up with it's competition but their warranty policy is for the birds. I aint bashing just sharing my experience, your mileage may differ so the say.
