limp mode?

Mine is doing the same thing all of a sudden, doing about 70mph then jump on it it will down shift and then sticks in 4th or 5th gear. GMC replaced the shift module the first time, found nothing the second time and now it is back in the shop. Please help what is the solution?
Who's "they"? The scanners they have at ricerzone usually can't pull the TCM codes, so the only one they's get is the P0700 that the TCM sent to the ECM. As everyone above said, sounds like you limped it; start saving

ok so what is the fix, a new trans ? and how or what do you do to stop it from happening again?? Thanks
Rebuild. Once it's limped once, it'll get easier each time. Eventually, it can get so bad it won't even hold 5th with a stock tune.

Seeing as you are in Vegas, I would make the journey to see Mike Lovrich at Inglewood Transmission in Fullerton,CA. I heard he is pretty good with these transmissions.
He will likely talk you into a suncoast IV kit with a Precision ML converter. This will include new clutches, shift kit, and a guaranteed smile on your face as you smoke the tires down the street in front of his shop when you leave!
