What does exhaust size have to do with him having a stock motor? There is no benefit to 5" unless your running a true full 5". All the 5" exhaust on a duramax start out as 4" and then change to 5" after the transmission cross member. Its been said time and time again that 4" in a plenty, but 5" is for a different sound and of course looks.

Don't understand what your point is? I agree 4" is plenty for 95% of all dmax trucks, and not all 5" starts at the cross member at least not on my truck. There is very little difference in sound between a 4" and 5" and if it important to look like your "packin" to impress the girls put one of those goofy big ass tips on the exhaust. This kid is new and just trying to help him spend his money wisely to upgrade the performance of his truck. I guess it's more important to look good rather than run good for some folks. :thumb:

My point is that it doesn't matter what size exhaust you buy, 4 or 5, the performance gains are the same, its just a matter of what you want. I put 5" on my truck because I thought it looked better and it did have a different sound to it. So if the OP wants 5" then go for it, if he wants to do it on the cheap then go with 4".

Some of the 4 and 5 inch exhaust kits,I've looked at was pretty much the same price.. Maybe a 30 dollar difference, So I figured why not..Just put a 5 inch on it.. For the pump, I figured it would help out with performance later on down the road... I'm looking at doing EFI and more upgrades later on

suply pumps

I cant figure out why GM never went with a suply pump to begin with. I would much rather have a presurized suply system than one under vacum. We see many problems here ( exspecially in the winter) where there is a small leak and causes the system to loose prime. It would also help in cases where the operator ran the truck out of fuel. I went with the AD165 on personal truck and elimated the factory filter housing completly, and it has worked flawlesly. Plus the 2 Napa filters I use are cheaper than the one factory filter and easier to change on the frame rail. Fred

Fuels a pump

I would check on a fuelabs pump. They are a better design and they just dropped there pricing to put them inline with the other pumps. I'm sure a vendor here can help you. They are a brushless design with very little to wrong with them(no seals to leak).
