I'm glad I don't have to endure your winters up here... My truck would never make it:D

Its just my opinion of what I see working out of my personal shop and at my fuel time job working on snow plows. I admit. Its a lot colder where you are at. But maybe your fuel supply is better suited for conditions. I just know I rarely have a duramax gel thats running filter in stock location. But buy cases of airdog and fass replacements.
This is a good part about forums is seeing what works in differant parts if the country.

I disagree. More heat you keep in fuel and filter thr less likely it is to gel.

It may heat the fuel some at the factory filter head but it won't do a damn bit of good back at the tank or filters on the frame

I dunno I'm in casper,wy and the fuel here is hit and miss. To the point you can get it at the same place and you'll still get a bad tank randomly. I always use howes just because it works. But I don't think filter placement or heat or lack there of is the issue. The issue plain and simple water in fuel and dirty filter combos. I've changed more ford filters than I care to and they are on top the motor so they get plenty of warm. It's water and the the fact it's not being removed and kept warm enough so it gels and you pull out a filter that is a blob of paraffin wax.

We had to constantly carry bottles of kerosene in the semis so they wouldn't gel...shit got old. It's shitty fuel, which may have something to do with the refineries around here

The filter head is on the engine because that's the cheapest way to build it. It has nothing to do with keeping it close to the engine for heat.

To update if anyone is still following, Dustin and the guys at Engle continue to be awesome and I can't say enough nice things about them. They really keep their customers in the loop. Apparently there was an old PPE lift pump on there (which I had no idea the previous owner installed) that was internally shorted out. Ripping that out, and installing the FASS pump now. Can't wait to get the truck back and be done with the problems I've been dealing with for almost 4 years. Hopefully Dustin can come along and elaborate, as I am probably not explaining this very well.

Again, nothing but great things about Engle and chevyburnout1!!!
